Kyoto Imperial Palace

Japan is the only place I have visited that made me wonder how it would be to experience some of the sights at different times of the year. Because I have this certainty it will be completely different and it will make me fall in love with the country again.

The Kyoto Imperial Palace was only available by reservation when we went there. The visits are still guided, and free, but I’m not sure if it’s a case of just joining in while there. Something worth checking before you travel.

The guide we had was phenomenal. Her history knowledge and command of the English language were impressive and ever so kind to all of us. You can see some of the buildings from the outside but the main attraction for us was the garden, especially the South Pond. Exquisite, even in October when there aren’t that many spectacular features as you’d get during the Cherry Blossom season or the Autumn colours.

A must see while in Kyoto.
