Thursday Doors – Burns Monument

I should probably wait for the 25th January to share a door with a Robert Burns connection but I just felt like sharing it now. This is the door to the Burns Monument in Alloway. For those not familiar with Scottish culture, Robert Burns is the National Bard, who wrote in Scots and English and showed, in the 18th Century a sensitivity for civic and political issues that was uncommon. The monument was a bit in need of care when we visited a few years ago and it seems to be closed at the moment. Nearby there’s a wonderful museum celebrating his life and work.
