Thursday Doors – Nara

The incredible doors at the Todai-ji Temple in Nara are the doors I’ve picked for this week. I remember skipping the day trip to Nara the first time we went to Japan and only went after that because we had a free day. I’m so glad we did. Nara is known for its monuments named Unesco World Heritage Sites, the beautiful park and the ever present deer. These doors lead into one of the most impressive places I’ve ever been to, the world’s biggest wooden building that houses also the world’s biggest bronze statue of Buddha. But, what I really loved more even than all the world records, was the atmosphere. Such an amazing place.

  1. Likewise I was super impressed by the monumental size of thise doors when I visited. The trees that made them much have been ancient. There is a certain vibe inside. I remember being transfixed by the hands of the Buddha as well.
