Thursday Doors – Lisbon

A fortnight ago I was dedicating a door to my sister, today is my Mother’s turn. We share a love for art in general and, in particular, Art Nouveau. There was nothing else I could share today than the only remotely Art Nouveau door I have and this one is pretty special. Firstly, is not the best of photos as conditions were challenging. We are inside a place called Embaixada and we’re still in the same square in Lisbon where my last two doors can be found. This building is something else completely, a former palace now converted into a shopping centre. This is a concept I don’t particularly enjoy but it gave me a chance to go in, explore and take some photos. I had to have a look beyond the grand staircase and entrance amd go to the back, to what would have been, I think, the service section of the palace and I found this, an old lift with a magnificent door.
