

Just back of our tour of the Castle Trail in Aberdeenshire, where I found lovely doors in spectacular, fairytale like castles. This is the famously pink Carigievar Castle, the inspiration for Disney’s castle (or so they say). We managed to go on the day it was closed… and didn’t have a way to change plans so an outside look and walk would have to do. Construction started in 1576, I was surprised with the scale of the building, it’s not that big. Originally it would have a small enclosed area, the building to the left its remnant.

I think the only castles we have in this country were built by Disney 😦
