This is one of my favourite sections of the “New Avenues” in Lisbon I’ve been sharing for the past few weeks. I’ve always been impressed with the building, the level of decoration and details is remarkable. The door is almost too simple until we start looking at all the little things around it. The building looks like Art Nouveau in style but it is a later one, dating from 1919-1920. Still beautiful.

Those are lovely photos. The door is deceivingly plain. You’re right about the details that emerge as you look longer.

The building is magnificent. The door and details are also excellent. Too bad there’s so much other “stuff” around them.

What a beautiful building and door Sofia! I can’t remember if I was in that part of Lisbon 🤔. Which street is it?

It’s Avenida Duque de Ávila, near Saldanha.
