I couldn’t find much information about the origins of this building, currently used as Tavira’s Municipal Archive. I can assume it was built at some point during the 19th Century but before 1868. The building was donated by its owner, Dr António Cabreira, a mathematician, in 1944 having been born here in 1868. It’s such a wonderfully detailed door, the best one of them all.

Beautiful elegance in a finely crafted door. Great photo Sofia. I like the angled shot.

Thank you, Suzette. Didn’t have much of a choice on the angle, quite a narrow street.

That door is a masterpiece. I am imagining all the angle cuts – made by hand – and thinking the craftsman was quite good at his craft.
